Junk Drawer Magic: The Folklore and Magic behind Everyday Objects

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, check-in, leave feedback and see who's attending!

When we think of magic, we're often immediately flooded with images of sparking wands, bubbling cauldrons, and soaring broomsticks. The objects of witchcraft are enchanting, enticing us with their mystery and allure. In an age when our collective attention is drawn by social media, the tactile, real, physical nature of things can seem hard to find. This workshop aims to help attendees see the vast magical storehouse at their fingertips. This is "junk drawer magic,"_x009d_ in which simple things like coins and buttons suddenly have an entirely new life of their own. Cory and Laine of the New World Witchery podcast draw on their knowledge of folk magic, both from research and practice, to show just how a little snip of string or a favorite teacup can become just as powerful as a wand or cauldron to a working witch.
